Today we had a Wisconsin customer named 'Mary Johnson' make a POS purchase. We already have a New Hampshire 'Mary Johnson' in the database, so when I typed in 'Mary Johnson' on the POS form, the system prompted me with 'Is this the correct person?' It was not, so I hit 'No'. The screen was still populated with the New Hampshire Mary's data...so I typed over the phone, address, city, state, etc. in order to capture the Wisconsin Mary's data.
StoneEdge OVERWROTE the New Hampshire Mary's data with the new info. It used her existing customer ID and re-assigned all of the new address info to that ID; all of the New Hampshire Mary's orders were now associated with the Wisconsin Mary. This is obviously a problem...I had to manually edit the customer and order tables in order to correct it. I closed out of SE, logged back in, and stepped through the whole process a second time in case it was a fluke...but the same thing happened again.
Has anyone else encountered this? |

| Are you using the old POS screen or the new POS system? The new POS screen should not ask 'is this the correct person'. The new system should display a list of customers found matching the search descriptors. If you do not select a customer, you should be able to enter the new data without impacting existing customers. If you are still using the old POS, I would recommend switching to the new system as the old POS has been removed from later releases of the Order Manager. |
