Within a few weeks we can look forward to the latest SEOM version.

This version seems to be quite a major release, so before the big day arrives when "the rest of us" dig into the new features, I wonder:

1) Will all the defaults and preferences carry over to the new version?
2) What will we have to do or should we do once we've installed the new version to make the new release fully functional with the new features?
3) Are there some special new features you want to alert us to? Remember that many of us haven't been immersed in the beta version for the time it's been out. What - maybe 7 months? So what's normal to you may be an amazing new feature to us.

This information could actually be in the readme file at the time of download, but before the new release, any help you can give us that will ease the transition will be appreciated.

SEOM version 5.905
Windows XP SP3
Access 2003, SP3 w/hotfix
Access 2007 build
Standard Edition SEOM

1. Yes, all of your system parameter settings will transfer to the new version.

2. That's not so easy to answer. Some features require you to set a system parameter. Others just require that you begin using them. Hopefully most of that will be obvious from reading the information below and seeing the new version.

3. Here are most of the features that have been added since the previous stable release (5.612):

MAJOR CHANGES

New Main Menu with Dashboard features.

All-new Setup Wizard.

CHANGES TO VIEW ORDERS

Added View Item button to View Orders.

Added Margin info to Pricing tab of View Inventory and to Multi-Record Editor.

Added button to edit Salesperson (was called EnteredBy) at View Orders; controlled by
parameters AllowEditSalespersonForWebOrders, AllowEditSalespersonForPOSOrders and
AllowEditSalespersonForManualOrders.

Added table for Review Reasons and parameter AllowApproveWithOpenIssues. Open Reasons will highlight tabs at View Orders, where there is also a new tab for Review Reasons. Review Reasons will also include results of Approval Rules where appropriate. Added button to add review reasons.

Split Log Payment/Log Credit button into two separate buttons.

Added barcode scanning of SKUs at Add/Revise Line Item screen.

Added product Location to line item details.

Fixed Get Shipping Rates button.

CHANGES TO MANUAL ORDERS

Added new form to handle carryforwards, notes, credit cards and ship-to addresses for existing customers at Manual Orders.

Added View Customer and Order History buttons to Manual Orders.

CHANGES TO PURCHASE ORDERS

Purchase Order auto-add system rewritten, three new SQL procedures/functions added to speed up processes for Enterprise users.

Added option to Suppliers to attach drop ship PO text files to drop ship emails.

Fixed problems with Refills option.

Added Location field to display at Receive Inventory.

Added index on POHistory AutoNumber field to speed up PO Receiving.

ENTERPRISE VERSION CHANGES

Added system for taking orders and selling products at Road Trips and Trade Shows.

Added Warehouse Management System. [Sorry - that is a mistake. The WMS will not work with the next standard release. It will only work with Beta release for another few months.]

Improved SQL Server support and use of stored procedures.

SwitchStores revised to prevent SQL Views from being linked and causing a prompt to select a Primary Key.

SHOPPING CART CHANGES

Added support for Magento, Infopia, Network Solutions and StoreHost carts.

Added support for importing ChannelAdvisor external auction and transaction IDs.

Added support for SQL Server version of Blackthorne.

CHANGES TO VIEW INVENTORY AND PRODUCT SEARCHES

Added View Adjustments and View PO Status buttons to View Inventory.

Added Primary Only option to Find Items search screen.

Added search for products by Fulfillment Center and by those used with Subscription Manager.

Added DontSendToAmazon option to Inventory, Global Editor, Multi-Record Editor, Import form and AmazonSendInventoryFeed. Added other fields to Import Products.

Added IgnoreQOHonWeb to Inventory table, forms and Web synch code.

REPORT CHANGES

Added option to exclude discontinued products from Slow Movers report.

Removed Inventory Value from Accounting Summary from History and Master Inventory reports.

Replaced report Inventory Value - New with improved version.

New reports Store Credits Remaining and Store Credits History by Customer.

Modified Invoice reports to include all surcharges.

Added two new drop ship purchase order reports that display all of the options for the items.

Added ability to set sort order for invoice and packing slip line items to Item Number, SKU or Location.

New system parameter ChargesAndCreditsShowCCNum to show or hide cc number on Charges and Credits report.

MISCELLANEOUS

Added support for AvaTax sales tax system.

Revised multiple forms so they do not cause "save changes" dialogs when closing them in Access 2007.

Added parameter ReferralSource and list "Referral List".

Added display of previous orders from current customer to RFM screen.

Added email tags for OptionListName01-10 and SelectedOptionCode01-10.

Added Order States (e.g. On Hold) functionality.

Eliminated use of custom controls ctDate, ctTree and ctHTML.

Added drop-down Country lists to View Customers and Edit Address forms.

Added Primary Supplier checkbox to Multi Record Editor.

Compact Data File now also compacts OMTemp.mdb.

Added FedEx to Real-Time Rates system.

When starting the program, if no linked tables are found, ask before re-opening previously opened store. If No, open Switch Stores form.

Added check for program file size at startup.

Don't re-lookup sales tax rates for existing orders (in case rates have changed since the order was placed).

Exclude sales tax and shipping charges from shipping rate calculations.

Added tests for presence of Ship To Company Name to Approval Rules.

NEW And REVISED SYSTEM PARAMETERS

Available? Probably not, since the full release will be the latest code, and another Beta cycle will be started fairly quickly. Supported? Yes, although the answers to some issues, as always, might be "upgrade to the latest version".

SHOPPING CART CHANGES

"Added support for Magento, Infopia, ***Network Solutions*** and StoreHost carts. "

So is this the full integration those of us still on Monstercommerce have been waiting for?

Sorry, my bad. I meant latest 5.6xx version, or 5.612 to be specific.

With the extent of changes in the new version, I'm not sure we can make the switch this year, so I was wondering if we would still have access to the old versions at the download gateway.

We have not made a decision on that yet. To be safe, keep a copy of the 5.612 installer that you downloaded. That way you can always install it again if you need to.

See the Magento thread for more details. Short answer: it's "supported" in OM but needs to be integrated in the import script, and I don't have an ETA on that yet. Probably before the stable release, yes.

I wrote some code a while back to allow us to link to certain SQL Views and programmatically specify the Primary Key when we switch stores. I wonder if you would consider doing something like this in the next beta.

The advantage to this is that you could write extremely complicated views which could then be used as the criteria for the Quick Filters - particularly for the ones that would be used for Multi-Order Processor.

We've essentially honed it down so that every order that can be processed completely blind goes into a filter for MOP and every order that needs to be looked at goes into a Non-MOP filter.

are there expected to be any new features in the SEOM 5.8 formal release than are in the 5.809 beta? or does it have the same feature set just certified via system testing?

For the new 5.904, when an item is marked as discontinued, even though the quantity is 0, customer are still able to add to cart on the Yahoo Shopping Cart. The inventory count is marked as UNKNOWN. This should not be correct. If the quantity is 0, then they should not be able to order. Can this be fixed?

You should contact support for help w/ that... 5.904 did change somewhat the criteria used to send products to Yahoo, but the "Unknown" response is almost certainly due to problems with your configuration or on your real-time inventory account with us.

Thanks Mark. Do you know what the changes for 5.904 are in regards to inventory sent to Yahoo? I noticed that if the items are marked as "discontinued" in Order Manager, the item doesn't show up on the QOH at all on the http://www.stoneedge.net/yahooadmin/admin/checkqoh.asp Page for Current QOH for Yahoo Real-time Inventory Link. Since it doesn't show up at all, when trying to add it to the shopping cart, it doesn't recognize it as an existing item. Is there anyway so that the quantity does show up regardless if the item is marked discontinued or not?

pinkprincess -
This was an issue years ago when the Yahoo real time system was just introduced... but it had been fixed. ALL items, discontinued or not should be gettign sent to the server.
Even though something is discontinued, you may have stock still on hand and will want to continue to sell it until that stock is gone.
Discontinued items should (and for our version of SE 5.607) do, get pushed up.
Mark - has there been a change in how this is pushed up in the latest 5.904?

When sending to the real-time link (Maintenance->Cart Functions->Shopping Cart Functions->Send QOH...), all inventory is sent, with the following exceptions:
- The item is marked "Do not send to Yahoo"
- The item is marked "discontinued" AND no current stock exists (quantity on hand is zero).

That's essentially it. It's important to note that products marked "Ignore QOH" and "Drop Ship" ARE still sent to the Stone Edge servers, and are simply marked as "virtual" products (basically, infinite QOH reported on every request).

A response of "unknown" from Yahoo means that you are either now offering a product that does NOT exist in OM (and hence was not sent to the RT-link in your last send), or has not been sent to the RT link (fixed with a new send).

Beyond that, I really have to insist that you call support. It is not a simple issue to diagnose.
